What are Te Omanga Hospice’s primary goals, and how does your digital presence support them?
Our primary purpose is to provide, or support others to provide, palliative care services for all people in need of this vital support. This purpose guides all our services and initiatives. Our website plays a crucial role in raising awareness of Te Omanga Hospice and serves as our main communication channel with the public.
How does your website contribute to community engagement?
Our website is instrumental in sharing information with the public, particularly within the Hutt Valley community. It allows us to keep the community informed about our services, retail shops, education courses, and events, along with other important updates.
Beyond the website, what other marketing strategies does Te Omanga Hospice use to reach the community?
As part of a broader fundraising strategy, we provide printed collateral with details about our services, hold regular events to raise awareness and funds for Te Omanga Hospice, and distribute printed newsletters and donation appeals. We also send email newsletters to reach community members who prefer receiving information via email. Additionally, our digital channels on Facebook and Instagram help us reach and share this information with our supporters in another way.
What are some of the biggest marketing challenges you face in today’s digital landscape?
One challenge is communicating to those who may not be aware that we need to raise around 50% of our annual costs from the community. This year, we need to raise $6.5 million, with the balance coming through our contracts with Health NZ – Wairarapa and Health NZ – Hutt Valley.
Another challenge is conveying the breadth of the services we offer, as we assist patients and families in various locations and in multiple ways.
How important is website security and reliability for your organization?
Website security and reliability are extremely important for us. Our website needs to be operational 24/7 to provide patients and families with access to information. It is also used to receive referrals for those requiring our support, so it must be secure and reliable. Additionally, our website links to our online shop, allowing people to purchase items at any time.
How has reliable hosting and support helped?
Reliable hosting and support have been crucial in preventing downtime and security concerns. Nettl has been a dependable and responsive partner, ensuring our website remains secure and operational.
What made you choose a premium website support plan, and how has it benefited Te Omanga Hospice?
We chose the Finest Care Plan for its fast response times and ticketing system, which keeps us informed of progress. Since partnering with Nettl in late 2024, we have started making improvements to our website’s usability and look forward to furthering this work. This support provides us with peace of mind, knowing that the team is dedicated to finding workable solutions.
Is ensuring long-term digital stability and security part of your strategy?
Yes, ensuring our website is kept up to date, user-friendly, secure, and operational 24/7 is a key part of our ongoing strategy.
